It's always irked me as a fed that we have SO many bs holiday (Columbus day, Presidents day, MLK day), but the two we don't get (Christmas Eve and Friday after Thanksgiving) are the ones that the majority of corporations give to their employees and they are the most family friendly holidays. I'm tired of being ragged for having days like Columbus off. I wish they would redo the federal holiday schedule or give floating holidays like so many corporations have.
Anyone taking bets we won't get December 26th off?![]()

Michael Jordan's birthday and victory in Japan day, which is still observed in Rhode Island (look it up). I would like to start a petition for a holiday to follow every holiday so we don't have to come to work hung over. Peace.

OP here. I won't be able to spend time with my family (who isn't local) on Christmas unless we get the day off. I'm required to be at work and can't take annual leave.
Anonymous wrote:Wish I could sympathize but I work for a company that DOES give the days after Thanksgiving and Christmas off, but does not give Columbus Day or Veterans Day off. Great, right? Except that forces us to find alternate care for our child since their daycare is also closed on those holidays but not the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
