OP - I was in a similar situation to you about 5 years ago and I went back to school and am in the process of finishing up my degree at Southern New Hampshire university online.
I've enjoyed my classes and did my first 2 years at NoVA CC.

I believe I read somewhere that the majority of college students are older than the traditional age. 30 is not old, unless you are expecting to join a sorority or go to parties with kids.

And yes I felt like my age was an issue for some odd issue in getting into college.
