I would drive around the block. If you do show up early, be kind and don threat work or leave the hostess less than dressed.

I like to host dinner parties fir close friends and used to do it often. If one or two showed up early, I wouldn't mind. However, I wouldn't do that to someone. I'd sit in the car or walk around the block.

I wouldn't arrive early or late. I try to come at the exact time the person asked me to.

Man, some of you are very uptight. I host lots of dinners and it wouldn't bother me at all.

OMG my dad (totally oblivious) would arrive up to an hour early, because he was ready to leave the house & had been preparing to go to this thing all day. And, he fully believed they'd be super duper excited to see him.

Having hosted dinner parties myself, it's annoying for a guest to show up early. It's in those last few minutes I'd be panicking, looking at the clock & hoping they don't show up early. 10 minutes is not rude, but it is annoying.

Sorry, but lots of dinner preparations are very last-minute. S/He is not disorganized, but instead is lovingly cooking a fancy dinner for you.

It's really rude. Nobody will appreciate it. You are supposed to arrive 10-15 minutes after the appointed time for a dinner party.

Don't arrive 10 minutes early. I agree that a few minutes past the designated time is ideal. Not a lot, but a few minutes.
