OP here, thanks one and all for all of their input. Boy, Disney World is such a daunting experience, it really isn't a "vacation" for mom and dad is it.

October 31, going to Epcot. Anyone that's BTDT on Halloween, I'd love to hear from you, but our oppressed kids will just have to deal with it. We'll probably bring costumes in case there is anyone dressing up, but we won't be declaring it Halloween that morning...

Fireworks, we're going to MK on Saturday the 1st, that way we won't be kicked out at 7:00 and can get our money's worth.

yes they pipe in the MNSSHP music. We saw them there one night and liked them more than being inside the park a few days before.

Typically there are no Fast Passes during the parties so the PP got very lucky.

Would one need a fast past during one of these parties? Is the park full? We are also there the week before thanksgiving and I purchased tickets to the xmas party not knowing any better!

As mentioned by another poster, the Disney resorts will have activities that night and so will Downtown Disney. Another thought is to have a late dinner at Chef Mickey's and then watch the fireworks from the balcony at the end, great view. Personally, unless that is your only day for Disney, I would do another park that day and do MK a different day, too many crowds on Halloween for me, even during the day. If you are staying offsite, then Universal Walk will have some type of thing that night as well and probably so will the bigger resorts.

No way I'd make my kid watch the fireworks from outside the gate when there are equally good, maybe better, fireworks at other places.

We had a great time at MNSSHP because it rained so the crowds were very small, but otherwise it's really just like being in the park any other night, except you can stand in long lines for candy and parents are allowed to wear costumes.
