She said she doesn't feel the need to be in the priesthood because her husband passes all of the blessings on to her. I respectfully told her that the historical Jesus spoke out against temples and hierarchies and such, and that he treated men and women equally. She was speechless. I guess they skipped this lesson at the Relief Society.

"MORMONS AND RELIGION
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the official name of the religion commonly called the Mormon Church. We believe first and foremost that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the Son of God.
While our backgrounds and experiences are diverse, Mormons are united by a commitment to Jesus Christ. This site features members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sharing their stories and telling what their faith means to them."
Or go to a Mormon ward service and see for yourself. It's obviously not a Christian denomination. And that's ok! Not everything has to be.
right, disregard facts and go to a service and "see for yourself" that it's what pp says it is. It's not just "OK" with pp that moronism is not christianity, it's essential to pp that people disregard how Mormons perceive themselves and instead see it pp's way - the ONE TRUE WAY?
My goodness! If you truly believe that the "facts" you noted from the Mormon website are correct, why on earth would you be concerned with someone attending a service? Anyone that attends a service or, even better, a sacrament meeting, would be capable of making their own conclusions about the LDS faith. Isn't Taft what all that "free agency" is for PP?

Anonymous wrote:Women cannot hold the Aaronic or Melchezidek priesthood because that flies in the face of what Mormons believe. It is the husband who knows the wife's secret name and only he can pull her through the veils (symbolically done during the wedding ceremony in the temple) into Heaven. A woman by herself cannot get into the top, Celestial, Heaven on her own. Period. Her husband must take her in. Here's what the past president of the church said about it.

Smug feelings of intellectual and moral superiority, check. Compulsion to persuade others to your own way of thinking, check.
I'm sorry, you were saying something about atheists and I got interrupted by the Jehovah's Witnesses at my door.
I'll see your so-called compulsion and raise you a gospel:
Mark 16:15-16 (KJV))
15. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Why is this thread on trashing Mormons turning into a thread on trashing Christians? Oh, that's right, because that's the path every thread takes. Carry on....
I'm sorry, did we interrupt your desire to trash one Christian faith by lumping all of you in together? How unreasonable of us. We'll just let you go back to dissing one religion without pointing out your apparent hypocrisy by not applying the same rigorous intellectual standards to the beliefs, tenets and practices of your own religion.
