I hate the smell. That changed when I was pregnant. I suddenly was craving it! After delivery, I went back to hating its sour sweet smell. I can only eat it in tzatziki or in salad when it's mixed with garlic - which does a good job of masking the smell.

Also, most yogurt sold in shops is not real. It has pectin added.

So totally understand you OP. I have nothing though against yoghurt eaters - have a few in the family who consume it by the barrel.

OMG the "real" yogurt sounds even more disgusting. Sour milk? YUMMY

Me too. We simply call it sour milk and it has been a staple in our diet for centuries. I love it plain with some honey. I also like to make a drink out of it - ayran and a summer cold soup with cucumbers - tarator.

People should distinguish real yogurt with live cultures in it from the garbage sold as yogurt that has gelatin and other thickening agents in it. The health benefits of the first have been studied and are well documented. The latter is just another product of the food industry, loaded with sugar and other garbage.

Now, if you want me to shock you, i can't stand peanut butter. Love peanuts, can't eat the butter. Did not grow up with it and it is an acquired taste for me. Don't understand the American obsession with it. Almond butter is fine, it's the peanut butter that i cannot touch.

Yogurt (yoghurt) is one of the world's oldest foods. It is only in modern America that it is primarily a sweet product. Traditionally it is eaten plain or with ingredients like fresh mint and various spices. It is associated with long life in various countries. It is easy to make at home and can be made with various milks (sheep, goat camel as well as cow). If you don't like it, you don't like it, but traditional yogurt has little to do with those little packages you see in the grocery stores.

But doesn't it still come out of a container to get into or on the food products you described?

Ditto on this and it smells bad too.

I find flavored and non-fat yogurt to taste disgusting, but love plain full-fat yogurt.

But if you don't like it, you don't like it. Nothing wrong with that.

Yogurt is my favorite food but only plain one. There is only one brand on the us that I like, lifeway or something, plain.

OP, you may never be a convert. Especially if people keep putting the "h" into yogurt (which is not incorrect but adds to the yuck factor)

But anyways, I'm with you on a lot of brands--low or no fat and jammed up with sugars.

It's very hard to find a nice full-fat yogurt. There's one at Whole Foods that is Snowville grass-fed Lemon-Ginger, and that's great!

Health food? We've all been brainwashed from the great dairy farms council....yogurt is coagulated, congealed breast milk of another mammal. yuck
