OP here, below is text from the letter. Nothing about lunch or bathrooms.

• go without shoes for 24 hours,
• wear their shoes to school and outside, but keep them off for the remainder of the school day or
• not to participate at this time.


I rather my kid walk outside with no shoes than inside a public school bathroom. eeewwww!

Really odd--and kind of troubling. Do not participate. There are other, less phony, ways to support the cause. No competent lawyer would ever allow this to happen.

Pajama Day -- they can catch a death of a cold going to school in just pajamas.

I've never heard of such a thing. I'm sure the local Health Department would be interested in hearing that children would be shoeless for the day in a school building!

I'd never allow my kids, even my older ones, to participate.

I'm kind of shocked that any competent elementary school administration would support an idea like this. All it takes is for one accident, injury or disease to bring a lawsuit from parents.

It might (or might not) be an OSHA violation if school children were employees, which they're not. OSHA does not have jurisdiction over elementary school students at elementary school.
