No, I don't opt out of FLE but will be opting out of the survey. FLE provides my child with information. The survey is gathering information from my child, while potentially putting questions in her head. I was alarmed seeing the results from last year, especially with regards to weapons.

However, while ours is a largely peaceful and happy home, with no major drama, I object to the district asking my kid how often we drink or fight, whether or not they are praised in school, have said anything about someone else's culture, how often they drink SODA for God's sake, etc.

Well, they figure most of us can't parent, so by trying to get an insight into the workings in your home through clever questioning of your unsuspecting kid, they can help you along.

Wow. With these questions, why would one bother putting any clothes on or live indoors. Just save yourself the hassle and walk around with the expected exposure.

You have to strike a balance between making your kids aware of the dangers out there and immersing them in filth. I kind of class this survey in the latter category ( unnecessary exposure).

I probably will. I don't think it's the school's job to teach family life education. Some people do, I don't. I talk to my kid about the stuff they teach in FLE and what our values are.

Yes.

I work in the survey world and these types of responses make me so sad. If you don't want your child to take the survey, opt them out. But please don't have them lie.

This is a good learning experience for us. I printed out the test and am explaining why it would be foolish to ever answer questions like these.

OK, so I googled vivoxiline and nothing relevant comes up other than the FCPS survey. Is this a fake question to find out who's inclined to lie about drug use?

Is there really such a drug as vivoxiline? Feeling very naive here.

What the heck is vivoxiline?

I might let my kid take the survey if I understood what the point of the questions is. How are they going to use the information and how is it going to help my kid - or any others?

And to a PP, what does answering this survey have to do with a kid getting knifed at school? If the survey is truly anonymous, how will the school know who's carrying a knife or not?
