I have a soda stream at work and at home. Love it! I love it more now that they have the 1/2 liter bottles, because I wouldn't always finish the full liter.

Hint - do your exchanges at Bed Bath & Beyond (for the small cylinders) and use your BBB 20% off coupon.

Your DH may have been mainlining Pelligrino (we are also addicted to it) because of the lithium in it. He may not be getting lithium and other minerals in sodastream water. Lithium lifts the mood.

This makes no sense. Who said they did or did not buy cheap clothing?

The refill cartridges are around $16 or $17 if you trade in the old one. For us, it's worth it. The best part is not lugging heavy bottles of water or recycling empty bottles.

Sodastream does have a model that uses glass bottles - the Penguin. There are probably other brands out there as well.

Pellegrino is a mineral water. Sodastream makes your tap water fizzy. They won't taste the same, no.

The people complaining about it's "business practices" (I.e. they are made in Israel) are ridiculous - I'm pretty sure most of what you are wearing is made by slave-like labor, the fabrics in your home (towels, rugs), slave labor. The food you eat? Mostly by low wage farm hands. Lastly, MANY, MANY Americans go without sick or vacation days or fair wages or guaranteed hours (Starbucks, anyone?). Whole Foods has awful health insurance coverage - bet no one balks at that.

Soda stream is just an easy target. If you think you'll use it and it'll help reduce the number of bottles you throw away, then go for it.
