I did not date while I was separated. BUT as soon as my divorce was final I signed up for an online dating site.

Interestingly, the first person I met online and dated was separated and in the process of getting a divorce. We had a four month relationship. I guess we connected because we could relate to what the other was going through. Our relationship was doomed from the start though - I felt terrible for dating someone who was still technically married and I was his rebound girl. After my experience, I would not advise dating someone who is going through a divorce because they are dealing with so many things that are being thrown at them and they are not one hundred percent free to be in a relationship.

Ditto. I didn't see a problem with it and it turned out fine. Married to someone I dated (among others) during that time.

Life is much too short to be living by timelines...Esp. if you are older.

For some, even though the ink hasn't dried on their divorce decrees as of yet, the marriage has already been dead for years so the fact that they are putting themselves out there in the dating world so "early" isn't really all that "early" since emotionally they have been single longer than others know.

I say, if you feel in your heart & soul that you are ready to get out there and meet people, then by all means, go for it. Nothing should stop you. You are a grown adult and are free to make adult decisions. Because as we all know, you and only you will be the one living w/your grown adult choices.

I did. My wife cheated and caused the problem and I decided to see what else was out there and was much happier. On the other hand, she couldn't handle it.

Learn how to multi task. Happier parent = happier children

I did plenty of multi-tasking, just chose to time dating once I knew my kids were ok with the transition. And yes, we're quite happy.

This assumes that dating equals being happier, of course.

I did date while separated..but I also did heavy duty therapy and soul searching at the same time. No kids involved THANK GOD.
