Where the Hong Kong restaurant used to be behind the Pizza shop, the Hardware store and Chipolte. The owner of the Hong Kong Restaurant apparently retired (not sure if it was a forced retirement for more money).

I'm sorry you are a relatively lower income renter. We old people kinda hold the cards for the moment, and the property. Not to worry, some day you too will get older and you might at that point own an expensive house that you don't want to see diminished in value.
I'd venture that having no grocery in the neighborhood will impact property values as much as a couple dozen new condos would have. Too bad viewpoints typically become more myopic as people grow old.
You would be wrong in that assumption. See eg much of Chevy chase,'great falls, Potomac and country club hills in north Arlington. Just rent a smartcar and drive to a grocery store until you can get out of your lease and move closer to a Giant.

Say what? There retail condos all over the city. Dumb move...especially with the cost of the most condos in DC. Trust me-riff-raf can't afford any condos inside beltway.
Trust me, plenty of riff raff live on McArthur blvd in low rent condos
