The previous owners of our home must have agreed with you. Instead, they took out the perfectly good solid wood cabinets and replaced them with IKEA pressboard junk, which would be extremely expensive for us to replace. I'd much prefer to have the old ones refinished.

Lots of companies make door fronts specifically for Ikea cabinets. Check out Semihandmade and Scherrs -- you might be able to get a kitchen you love without ripping out the Ikea. Good luck.
