Aspens are trees. Senecas are not trees.

Maybe they were thinking of Sycamore? Though that does not make a good baby name either...

It should be pronounced "No."

What about "Quinoa" instead?

Combine them! Sequinoa.

Perfect!!

Can Sequinoa be the new Larla?

It's the name of a child in DH class, we were wondering if it was pronounced like the tree.

I think it's an interesting name, rather know a little Sequoia than another Bella, Sophia, Aiden, or Brayden.

I assume that it's pronounced like the tree. How else would you pronounce it?

I know a Sequoia. He is not a stripper, or an SUV, or a tree.

Also, I have heard of the historical Sequoyah, who was also not a stripper, or an SUV, or a tree. He invented the Cherokee syllabary. People on DCUM are seriously ignorant.

Are you re-living your days as a waitress on the Waterfront? Sa-quoy-a.

You put your child's classmate's name up for ridicule on DCUM.

I was stuck behind a Sequoia in traffic long enough one day that I figured out that it is a word that has all 5 vowels. So that is what I think of now when I hear/see that word.

I'd pronounce it the same way you would the tree. It wouldn't be my pick for my child, but I agree that it's a welcome change when I'm used to hearing the same names over and over. (And I like most of the really popular names-- not a knock on those.)

There is the same pronunciation, different spelling at our child's school.

I agree with others - just say no.
