Agree on the downhill bike tour - it was amazing. I also highly, highly recommend Blue Water Rafting - http://www.bluewaterrafting.com. Go on the day trip around the island and to Molokini - some of the best fun I ever had.

We liked our Trilogy boat trip too. We went to Molokini and got a bonus whale watch while we were on there!

Maui opens and closes early. I recommend rolling with your jet lag since getting up at 5:30 and being asleep by 10 gets you the best morning snorkeling, keeps you in the natural swing of the island, and will keep you from wondering where the nightlife is. (There isn't much.) You don't need it anyway because you'll be so busy having the time of your life all day.

+1 on Mama's Fish House. Really expensive, but one of the best meals of my life and in a beautiful area. Definitely make reservations now, esp. if you want to time it with sunset. They book up weeks in advance. I booked our a few weeks before our trip and still had to take a 5:30 dinner reservation! It was worth it, though...

Maybe we just got a bad day, but I was not all that impressed with the snorkeling at Molokini. We saw fish just as cool on the beach at our hotel (near Black Rock Beach/Kaanapali) and it wad free!

We enjoyed the (not dawn) ride down the volcano. So if you can't get up at 3:00 in the morning, there is another one later in teh day.

There are suggestions to snorkle at Molokini. I'm looking at an Trilogy excursion and they have a snorkle trip to Molokini and a snorkle trip to Lanai....is Molokini better according to DCUM?

Go snorkeling at Molokini and whale watching in Lahaina.

I believe the sushi place at kapalua is called Sansei, at least that's what is was 10+ years ago when I visited. It was great.

Even in the mist, it's still beautiful. And windy and cold. Wear fleece.

Just a word of caution. Not really caution as much as a heads up, you won't likely see a sunrise at the top of the crater. If you will, it'll likely be not very dramatic, as the clouds/fog/mist whatever is up there will be blocking it.

For us it happened before anyone knew it and our guide said "well folks, technically the sun has risen".
