The year before last, I had an outdoor party in January for one dd - pony in the backyard, and another outdoor/indoor party in February where we played in the backyard half the time. Last year of course, it snowed like crazy. This year, dd wants a moon bounce in February. Not sure what to do about that.

No, don't do it! My DD's birthday is at the end of March. When she was born 7 1/2 years ago, it was 80+ degrees. However, that was the last time it has been that warm on her birthday. One year it snowed the morning of her birthday, but the sun came out and melted the snow away. It ended up being a beautiful, pleasant day. Another year, it rained during the pony rides. Thank God we also booked a party room for the remainder of the party. Last year, it rained ALL DAY LONG!

It snowed on my daughter's birthday this year - March 30th - and was cold the year before. Cold is more manageable than snow, but indoors is safer.

If i did plan one I would have a suitable back up plan. you could get lucky and get a beautiful day or you could be sitting outside freezing your face off.

My son's birthday is the end of March and usually it's too cold. One year we had a petting zoo outside but it was on the chilly side. Things were starting to bloom but standing around outside being chilly is not that fun. From then on, we've done indoor parties, or ones that were a combination of indoor and outdoor. The year he was born, actually spring sprang right then, but ever since, it has seemed cold more often than not. It also can be muddy, even if it is sunny.

The Reston Zoo seems to have very few indoor exhibits.

The national zoo is so bad it's almost laughable.

DD is 6 and her bday is Mar 26 and we've never been able to have an outdoor party.

Yeah, I got married on April 2nd, and it definitely wouldn't have been good if we had an outdoor wedding.
