Wtf are you talking about? OP asked a simple question!

Stop regulating your daughters' clothes, all of you! Let her wear what she wants.

Nope. She has a strapless beach cover thing and she has bandeaus she wears under loose tanks and t shirts that have huge arm holes. She does have a couple shirts where the sleeves sit down on your arms (instead of on your shoulders and she wears a strapless bra or bandeau with that.

I had one strapless sundress in my early twenties.

Why is it not allowed? Do your 12 year olds also not wear a 2 piece bathing suit?

Curious if someone could post an example of a "modest" strapless top? Totally serious question. I'm not a body policer at all, but a struggling to envision a strapless top aimed at a 12 year old girl.

+1. I have a 12 year old so I don’t exactly know when but no time soon.

I say yes, I am 13 and there is nothing wrong with it.
Don't show to much skin though, keep it sort of modest.
If your daughter has bigger breasts I say she shouldn't, and if she did only in summer.
Our society these days....

The one with the straps stays up better -- in my experience. I've never met a strapless item of clothing that didn't require more or less constant tugging or rearranging. This is a practical consideration, not a "modesty" one.

Amen- the only item of strapless clothing I owned that I didn't have to at least adjust a little was my wedding dress with a full boning bodice inside! (I didn't even want strapless because I was afraid of the tugging but vnecks were worse on the booby factor, which is neither here nor there but sundresses don't have a built in structure). I have 2 dresses and 1 top that is strapless that work decently (haven't worn the top in 7 years actually except for PT massages on my injured shoulder!) but I am very mindful of how I move in them and I don't think most 12 year olds are.

I don't have a modesty issue with them though, personally.

+1 My 13 yo DD is very proud of her new bust. And every time she tugs and adjusts that top it draws attention and they move, drawing more attention. She still only a girl, so no more tube/strapless. They are not allowed at school, so it would be after school or evening ...

No strapless here either. I actually don't think it's particularly modest in general. I don't plan on ever buying my girls strapless or giving the green light on them buying it either. When they leave home they are welcome to buy and wear whatever the heck they want, and I won't say a word.

It's not allowed at DD's school, and my general rule is I won't spend more than $100 on clothing she can't wear 5/7 days a week.
