You don't need 4WD to drive in the snow here.

Lived her my whole life, I am almost 50, never had a 4WD.

There are many years when the most snow we get here is an inch or two a few times.

It snows about three times a year here - its crazy to get a car for those three days. You are better off just getting a good car - and if it happens to not be a good snow car, leave it at home and take a cab on those three days.

I bought a Suburu and snow driving has been awesome ever since.

Subaru. Monsters in the snow. Mine was new the winter of '09-'10 and it climbed the snow - literally, climbed over snow mounds.

Consider the Subaru WRX. You'll probably have to buy it used but it's a hot car with good acceleration.

When I think snow, I think Jeep Cherokee or Subaru Outback.
