The child may have been placed into the class even if OOB. Principal discretion.

The parents run in (if they don't just make their kid run in, so you never actually see them) and if you DO see the parents, they don't talk to you or anyone and beyond that you never see them at school events. Then you see the same iffy scenario happening again in Pre-K, and you have friends who actually live in the neighborhood who were waitlisted. I don't think it's creepy at all to be concerned about this situation. Why do YOU think it's creepy that other people are creeped out by such dodgy behavior?

They claim to live in a house in the neighborhood that they do not live in.
A google search reveals that they either live elsewhere DC or in PG county.
What to do?
There were approx 40 kids inboundary on the PK waitlist and several other hundred city-wide who wanted this spot.

Also, how do you know that they don't live in the house where they say they live? Who does live in that house?
I'm divorced and my child's father and I live in different school districts. Is it possible that something like that is going on here and you are simply not aware?
I know because I live on the block. They categorically do not live in the house they claim to live in.
To whom did they claim this? To you? In the school directory? Have you been inside the house or just peeking through windows?
These aren't real questions. Just realized how creepy you sound.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Boundary restrictions don't apply for pre-k. However, they must live somewhere in the District. If they live in Maryland they should be reported.
Exactly. PK is not compulsory. DCPS can place any child at any particular school for reasons that are none of your business like special needs or personal safety during nasty custody battles. Be thankful you're not in that situation and try to move on. They didn't steal any inboundary spots for PK. The city is not required to offer PK. (Why is this so hard for people to understand?)
They are not "cheating" so long as one parent or guardian lives in DC.
There are clear criteria for reporting fraud. If you have it, use the official process. If not, then let it go.
Feel free to go through their trash for evidence if it's that concerning to you.
Hopefully this child won't be impacted by being called out on a public forum.
