I live directly across the street from a pre-school and ours is a small neighborhood street, not a major thoroughfare at all. during drop off and pick up my driveway is constantly being used as a "turn around" spot or is being blocked by the entitled parents of this very expensive school. They think nothing of doing it, full well knowing that we live there and will be needing to pull out of our driveway so that we can go to work or do whatever.
I've tried talking to the parents directly and have been shocked at the horrible reactions. Everything from eye rolling to the finger. I also approached school admin and had to get them involved. Lets not forget about speeding on the street. It is truly shocking that these so-called involved parents think nothing of speeding down our residential street full-well knowing there is a pre-school there....that their own children attend. Entitled A holes for sure.
OP think very long and hard about it before you purchase. If not for your own comfort, for your re-sale later on down the road.

I live down the street from an elementary school and when school is in session, the drivers become insane. I cannot tell you how many times my dog and I have nearly been hit by cars during our morning walk.
We walk in a different direction now - just can't take dealing with all those crabby, entitled, dangerous people first thing in the morning. I'd imagine that living right across the street, and not being able to avoid those folks, would be near unbearable. (Unless you don't have a dog.)

The public schools in good areas of virginia and Maryland have better well behaved children that pick up after themselves.
+1, the schools with great school ratings below 6 tend to have issues.

Lots of activities will still take place at night--band/orchestra/choir concerts, back to school nights, maybe some sports, etc.
Sometimes churches will rent space from schools on the weekends to hold services.

Rats. We live down the street from a school and our exterminator told me he has a clients across from the school who constantly have food and trash tossed in their yards that attracts the critters.

I grew up around the corner from a middle school, and would never want to live that close to a school again. Noise, traffic, and school-skippers...no thanks!

I live across the street from an elementary school. My big, lovable Labrador loves the kids. He is outside at 2:15 everyday with a ball ready in his mouth. The kids love to play fetch with him because he will drop his ball over the fence and happily wag his tail until somebody throws his toy.

My kids lived watching the school buses drive by. I hated it- the noise and exhaust fumes.
Kiss n ride traffic annoyed me too, but it didn't last too long.

We live two doors down from a private school and the cars at drop off/pickup are REALLY annoying. We can also hear the kids shrieking at recess. They also have a LOT of evening events and take up all the parking spots on our street and sometimes even block our driveway. We've had to go over to complain several times. I would NEVER live this close to a school again.
