Penn State has put the matter in the rear-view mirror.

By hiring a coach who rounded up a ring of hot "hostesses" against the rules to "host" recruits culminating in a gang rose if a "hostess" in her dorm room by his players?

It ain't over. It will never be over. Everybody else looks at Penn State as a freak show . Anybody enrolled after the atrocity gets their resume thrown in the trash by myself and my friends.

For every rabid PSU hater there are three PSU boosters in positions to hire. No worries.

I went to UVA Law 15 years ago and also paid 12k. But what I understood at the time was that the state was no longer going to provide funding for the school and therefore the in state tuition would be raised over time to be more comparable to out of state. Maybe the same thing happened at William and Mary?

I just checked and UVA is now 47k in state....

Bingo. This is the primary reason tuition at public colleges has exploded in the past 20 years. And we have saddled the current generation of college students with extraordinary debt as a result.

Many question USNEWS, but it remains the only ranking that matters to schools because the USNEWS rankings drive applications.

Since they suck at their jobs reporting news and go out of business....their opinion is suspect . Shanghai world and times of London are the academic standard now .

"Shanghai world and times of London are the academic standard now ." says the college admissions officer on the way out the door after being fired in the wake of a drop in the USNEWS rankings.

Great. Schools are following the rankings from a Communist country.

Congrats to schools like Northeastern and the legendary WUSTL. Nobody games USNews better!

It's funny that some take so much offense at schools improving the metrics that USNEWS measures. I get that many object to the specific formulation, but most reasonable people would agree that each of the metrics USNEWS measures pertain in some way to the college experience. How is that improving the college experience is somehow a bad thing? IMHO the increasing importance of the USNEWS rankings in the past generation has forced schools to pay attention to things that matter to students (such as class size and facilities) instead of just fund raising and athletics.

Your sentence should read as follows:

You can always tell a UMD booster based on where s/he places the punctuation at the end of the sentence.

NP here. "S/he" is not a word in the English language.

Clearly, the writer may make the choice between "she" or "he", either of which is grammatically correct, unlike "they".

It's much more important to have a ranked football team.. Go team!

They even hired a coach who set up a ring of hotties against the rules to "host" recruits ending up with a coed gang raped in her dorm room by his players. So yeah... That is penn states priority.
