Subject: Dying in DC without a will -- How does asset division between spouse and children work?
Wait, how is your house titled? I'm thinking most things pass via JTWROS or by contract.....you don't sound like you actually have much of a probate estate. And do you have life insurance?

I'm a lawyer and the worst pro bono case I ever had was a " simple" probate case. Probate in DC is a nightmare. The contested adoption case I handled was far less painful.
Just get a will already, geez.
