Live around the corner and I agree.

It is interesting that someone revived this old thread. Some of these places are bygones now. They bring back memories!

Unfortunately even though we live just in Rosemont we never go into Old Town unless we have to. The parking is really bad and traffic is much worse. Old Town has too many problems.

It is much better to head up to Bradley Shopping Center, over to Shirlington or down to Belle View Shopping Center.

A sandwich from deli on the strand was my treat when I was having a babysitter. We used to walk there before my parents went out. I’m not sure if they still do, but as of 2 years ago, the ice cream place across from landinis (I think it’s called what’s the scoop) was owned by the same owner & offered the sandwiches on the same bread. He had a little bread oven in there.

Life is too short to have “cheat days” on which you consume sandwiches.

Rode my bike to Deli on the Strand for a sandwich many a time growing up. Loved that place!

I was thinking about this place too! UGH SO good! I remember being a tween and loving those monster sandwiches. They were $8 which was probably like $12ish now.

What a blast from the past - my sister worked there as a teenager about 30 years ago!

While not technically a sandwich, I was impressed by Meggrolls on N. Fayette street in Old Town. They're big 'eggrolls' (so you get maximum crunch) with sandwich/comfort food fillings.

Me too! I grew up in Belle View, so it wasn't a short ride, but it was worth it.

I also grew up there and would bike to Deli on the Strand! Their bread was amazing
