I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and when I travel to other states and cities, T-Mobile doesn't have a good coverage at all. Most of the time I don't have a signal even for GPS.

Did this switch eariler this year.

Good:
- Lower monthly bill
- Unlimted texts, data, etc.
- Free data roaming and texts when abroad, and calls only 20c/min when abroad (ATT was $2/min)

Bad:
- Coverage not as good where I am (Bethesda). They have offered to provide me a free signal strength for my home but haven't gotten around to picking it up
- Coverage in smaller US towns may not be as good. For example, I was in Charles Town, WV and data often didn't work at all, and occasionally it had no service at all. Yes, I realize WV has lots of mountains but still. I also travel a lot in the US, and in all major cities I"ve been to, it does work fine.

Does anyone have experience taking their Verizon iPhone 5 to tmobile? I read that they are compatible. It might be worth trying to experiment with coverage since there is no contract.

Are you talking about 4G data, 3G data, all data?
Are you saying voice and text doesn't work?

Yes, if I switched to the capped data plan, it is about $50 cheaper a month and it does allow tethering. I do not use a ton per month, only about 3GB between all three devices. I just wonder if 5 years later the data requirements will continue to grow and I will regret not having unlimited anymore. As it stands I can only used unlimited data for my iPhone. And I use it to facetime a lot.

I was always told to keep grandfathered plans where you could because phone companies always change them to support a profit for their business model.
