This is what I fear... after the initial investment, CO2 is $15 (60L) and those 3-packs of flavor for the non sugar/non fake sugar seltzers are $9.99. And you need more than 1/4tsp. More like 1/2. So even with the awesome BBB coupons... the liters at the grocery store are .59. Am I coming out ahead? At least I'm not lugging bottles and recycling tons. I guess.

So do you all refuse to buy items make in China, Bangladesh or other countries where workplace abuses are much more common than in the West Bank?

I've started consciously working to reduce our plastic waste and the Sodastream has been a great way to help that effort.

We exchange at Strosniders-- have two of the large size canisters and just exchange them both at once (used to be better when they did drop off/pick up service).

They are great for seltzer, so-so for soda and we definitely save money and time (plus it's better for the environment).

I think there is a living social deal right now for the genesis.

I have one and think it is a waste of counterspace. Ibottled soda is better and I find it loud and unreliable to use. I would get rid of it but my mil gave it to me as a gift so I have to pretend to like it whenever she comes over.

It is convenient and does not take up a lot of space. I take the co2 cartridges to Staples or BB&B.

PP - we use it all the time now that we've left it on the counter and don't have to haul it out to use it.

Had it for years, didn't use it until we finally put it on the counter and it was there. I feel way better about using it than wasting plastic/environment and, quite frankly, than drinking water that's been sitting in plastic for who knows long. You can make it more fizzy by pushing the button for longer. I like it!

I exchange at Bed Bath & Beyond and use the $5 off coupons that come in the mail so it only costs $10 for the refill...

You can snag some better deals for refills on amazon.com. I just ordered some new cannisters (the thing that holds the water before you pour) and some of the 500 ml. flavorings. Watch for prime, though. And if not prime, then check shipping. One refill was only $1.98 for 500 ml. but the shipping was $8.95

You should look into this - a lot of unexpected places exchange them. I do mine at Staples which is in the same building as my gym.

We have one and love it and have definitely saved money, but that's because we spend a lot on sodas before we got it.

I really love the sparkling cranberry juice and just drinking fizzy water, too.
