I just hate when people bring dishes that don't belong. We went to a BBQ a couple months ago and someone said "I will bring banana bread." Oh yeah. Just what I want with my hot dog and baked beans. Banana bread.

I forgot that existed! Now I want some

I think most "salads" are pretty nasty at a potluck. Quinoa, bean, pasta, tuna, jello, whatever. Blech.

Really? My noodle cabbage salad with almonds is always the first to be gobbled up!

What is it? Never heard of it. How do you know about it?

I first tried it at a cast party twenty-some years ago and asked for the recipe. Shredded cabbage, green onions, slightly softened ramen noodles, sesame seeds, and toasted slivered almonds. For the dressing, chicken-flavor packet from the noodles, sugar, salt, white pepper, oil, vinegar, and water. People inhale it.

I hate this too.

Too bad your palate is so unsophisticated that you can't even handle ramen noodles!

21:48 here. What's sophisticated about this? The dressing is a sweet packet of ramen seasoning with tons of MSG. It's gross!

MSG: yes. Sweet: no. I haven't had Ramen Noodle Salad since my grandma died ten years ago, but I loved it as a kid. When I read the recipe to make it as an adult, I was kind of (totally) appalled. Oh well, people used to use "Accent" to flavor all sorts of home cooked foods.

Can't stand that fruit salad with the melon balls in it.

Knox Blox-yes, my mom read some book about the evils of sugar, so she would make proto jello jigglers with Knox and as little fruit juice as she could manage. Hard to know which was worse-barely sweetened blocks of gelatin or carob brownies.

Least favorite: three bean salad, anything with quinoa, dried out looking vegetable trays.

You clearly haven't been to a Methodist potluck in ages.

And quinoa salads.

Basically anything healthy.

I hate this too, but people always bring it. It usually has tons left over so I know I am not alone.
