We do that kind of thing all the time, so no I would not be ticked.

It would never have occurred to me that another parent would have a problem with this.

As the host parent, if I found out you were upset by what I allowed your DD to do at our home I would feel badly that I had caused you to worry, and I would not allow backyard camping again if your DD were part of the group. However, if our DDs were very close friends, this incident would prompt me to try to have a discussion with you to pin down what your expectations are for a supervising adult when your DD is at someone's home because I would want to find out if your expectations were something I was comfortable meeting or whether I would have to decline to have your DD in my care in the future. Our expectations for supervision at this age seem vastly different.

She's your daughter so it's completely your business what you are comfortable with, but if I could give you a bit of advice, I would suggest (gently) that you try not to allow your worries to get in the way of your DD's growing independence and more importantly her willingness to have open conversations with you about what's going on in her life.

Host parents most likely did not know. Lots of things could happen and the host parents wouldn't know and it wouldn't be because host parents are permissive or not paying attention. Of course for all the bad things you can imagine, virtually all do not happen.

However, welcome to the age when you can not control everything. Not you, not the host parents, no one.

Yes, I would have been annoyed. But your DD prob. went with what everyone else was doing. I'm surprised the host parents allowed it.

Your daughter might be ticked, though -- did she check herself when she came home? Check her sleeping bag, too.

Please wake up. Your daughter told you something that happened that was a nice thing and you are going off.

You are translating to your daughter not to share things with you that might make you mad. This is not a good way to head into the teen years. You want her to feel that she share things with you that may be a lot more important than sleeping under the stars.

OP you need to check your paranoia. Are you always this over protective? Sounds like a fun sleepover.
