Feel so lucky to have a gig that allows me to "contribute" to society at large and still be at the pick-up line by 4pm each day.

I can't beat the flexibility. I've thought about adding more hours as the kids get older but I can see the benefit of keeping a reduced schedule especially in the middle school years.

Good luck to those trying to reduce your work schedules. I was in my position for many years before requesting the switch to part-time.

I'm financially unable to quit, but have been getting my ducks in a row to make some kind of move - fewer hours and less responsibility would be heaven, even if it's for a short time. Would love a chance to recharge and savor every minute with my little boy who's not so little anymore!

I work for a non-profit, 30hrs a week, mostly telecommuting and earn about 50K.

In terms of flexiblity, interesting work, and compensation, I feel like my job gets two out of three. I feel lucky that I am able to keep up an interesting career but still be able to pick my kids up after school most days, cook a real dinner, etc. For now at least, it's worth the low salary, but we worry about money a lot. I've thought about looking for a new job several times in the past few years, but stick with my current organization mostly because of the flexibility.

I teach (adjunct professor). It's a dodgy profession to try to do full time, but it works for my family because my husband works full time.
