After 1st use of a pristine clean Glasslock container and lid, I handwash both and let them dry thoroughly. Then I fit a piece of plastic wrap over the container, and snap on the lid. I put them back on eventually, but let them sit out to dry a long time - propped up so air circulates

+. Put them on the drying rack for a while after they come out of the dishwasher. I also don't lock them down tight when I put them in the drawer. I've had mine for years and never had mold.

+2 After washing the jars and gaskets separately in the dishwasher, I leave both out to dry (lid open on the jar, the gaskets stretched out) separately for about a week to dry. Then I scoop each gasket into a paper towel, and put the paper towel with the gasket inside the jar. At that point then I do lock the jar down. I have never had a problem.
