You have all sorts of winter outdoor sports/recreation, scenery of winter can be absolutely beautiful, Christmas isn't Christmas without snow, without winter you wouldn't have as beautiful springs and falls, having 4 true seasons is bonus, and if you love shopping there's more types of cloths to shop for!
i'm sorry but midwest winter is shit winter.
This isn't teton county wyoming winter, or front range colorado winter, or utah winters, or montana/idaho, pac nw winters, or even vermont winters
Midwest winters are all the shitty parts of winter without any of the good IMO.

This is what I was going to say.

Lots of great food there, great bars, great restaurants, fantastic farmer's market, center of Wisconsin government, beautiful capitol building, nice children's museum, great beer.
I think I said something about the cold, and the snow, no? And there's ice, did I mention that? You might need chains sometimes, if you live outside the city. Lots and lots of snow. There's more moisture in the atmosphere due to global warming/climate change, so the snow's only going to get worse!!
It's a fine, cultured city, if you live there only in the spring/summer/fall. Winter, well, forget it.
It's in the midwest, but Madison is a pretty cool place. It's not too far from Chicago, which is also in the Midwest, but there's more stuff to do there.
Good luck, whatever you decide!
Anonymous wrote:Do it. Close to Chicago and Minneapolis -- both fantastic cities. Minneapolis and Madison are gems that few people know about.
