i would not care. i am only concerned with professional attire and the fact that you know your stuff. ditto for turbans, nose piercings, tattoos. anyone who thinks otherwise needs a crash course in "america 2014".

PP with curly hair (white). You are correct, most of the other white women I know with curly hair straighten it. I don't get it but whatever. I'm sure they think I look awful, lol.

However, we just hired a white woman with very curly/frizzy hair (classic Irish 'fro). Love it.

Another white woman here, mid-30s, middle management, with naturally curly hair that I wear in its natural state. I love when AA women rock a more natural 'do (if that's their thing). In my organization there is a woman with a PhD who rocks a HUGE fro that I think is really cool. She is on the younger side, but I can't ever imagine it being OK for someone to judge her on it. I don't understand why this is not ok in conservative settings, if it is well-maintained and clean. I feel like it would be unacceptable for someone to make a judgment based on hair texture alone.

Personally, when I interview, I try to assess the style of the person interviewing and then match it as much as possible. If you can find a pic on linkedin or such maybe you can tell if the person seems to value high-maintenance looks or if they have a free-thinking approach.
