She already said she goes at 5:30 am so she's done before they wake up.
Maybe they can take turns- so he can also get exercise during the week.
Where do you get the idea that he wants to exercise? Sounds like he's perfectly content being out of shape and unhealthy. Fighting for exercise time is not the issue here.
I think many spouses get jealous and insecure when the other spouse get themselves in shape while the other one is left behind, unable to make a change.
