Thompson creek gave us a good Price and was easy to work with. Windows look great, have a good warranty, and once they've done a certain number in your home - t hey will come in and just do in the future ( ex. We didn't do our bathrooms because we will do that when we renovate them)
Not a hard sell.
So, ymmv I guess....

We have Marvin Integrity wood on the inside and fiberglass on the outside. Love them! Old Town Windows and Doors did a nice job. They're not cheap but worth every penny if you plan to stay in your condo for awhile.

How long are you planning on staying in the coop? I would say get wood or fiberglass, because vinyl deteriorates fairly quickly. Wood windows can last several lifetimes -- although they might have to be restored if painted over and over. I have had good experiences with Pella and Hodges.

I used Windows Universe in Alexandria last summer to replace about 6 windows and a sliding glass door. They had the best prices and no pressure sales pitch. They came and showed us our various options and showed the price differences between the options. The process does take some time though: It did take about 5-6 weeks from when I signed the contract to do the work until the windows were actually made because everything was made to order. Communications were good and their installation team did a great job and cleaned up after themselves as I would expect.

We used this place 5 years ago- they were great: http://www.ahc-inc.net/

Brought a bunch of workers and replaced 18 windows in 3 hours! No issues to report.

Honestly - lead isn't your biggest issue. If they have lead, then so does your baseboard, and all the other trim in the coop (under layers of newer paint). Depending on the age and type of your windows, I would seriously consider having them restored. Vinyl is a poor, and short-term substitute, for older windows that had higher quality materials.

That said - if your co-op was built in 1970 this likely isn't the case - but if built in 1930 or 1940, then possibly.

So I am gathering from this...

Unicorp and Windows on Washington.

Stay away from Thompson Creek LOL!

I guesstimated around $500 per window. I saw some recently renovated windows in the co-op...the were vinyl. The windows in the unit now are the original windows unless the co-op changed them all out at some point. They look so bad now. The lead is probably terrible!

We had good luck with Hodges years ago but we have had a terrible customer service experience this time around.
