A year late and a dollar short, PP.

A eighborhood fixture bites the dust - too bad, and I hope the owners successfully move on to something else. I never felt unwelcome there with kids - in fact I would say it was very family friendly. Once in while you need a starchy bowl of pasta! I wish that something like Praline would open there, with bakery.

Got high hopes for Bistroquet, Bistro d'Oc downtown is not faux-French and it has great classic French fare. With the same French owners it should succeed.

Two Belgian restaurants is unnecessary though, would be nice to replace one of those with a latin American restaurant or dare I say African resto to bring some food diversity to the block.

List rains was absolutely fantastic the first few times I went in the early 90s. The last time I went about 3 years ago, it was nothing like what I remembered. In particular, they used to serve delicious tiramisu in these huge pedestal glass serving dishes ... Enough for 3 adults (although I certainly had no interest in sharing it with anyone!). The last visits, they brought out this tiny little square and it was still partly frozen ... Not fresh made.

Really disappointing and we never went back. Too bad.

Yeah, sort of like when A.V. Ristorante closed. I only went there about once every 3 years or so, but I liked the idea that it was still around. I guess we need to support neighborhood restaurants and small businesses by actually spending our money there instead of at the chains.

LOL, AV Ristorante...flashlights to see the menu not included

Yes, there are too few good family restaurants left in the DC area.
