Race really doesn't matter much to most to 3 year olds. Beyond noticing that people have different color skin, unless they're being raised by complete racists, they're not really going to have formed many thoughts about it.

I'm all for OOB parents joining our school, but not particularly interested in bringing in people who aren't interested in truly growing the school.

Ideally, we'll get into a school that is already good throughout the elementary grades and will put several of those on our list, but odds are not great because everyone wants those schools. I'm also looking for "safety" schools that are good for PK-3 through K, and would volunteer at the school and consider staying longer if it works for our family.

Takoma actually filled with in bound preschool kids for fall. So it's no longer a viable safety if oob.

We just finished PS3 at Bethune. It was great! We will be back in the fall. Teachers were engaged and responsive, Principals were approachable. I would recommend it.

I would say the same for Imagine Hope Tolson. I visited this past year & I was pleasantly surprised. It seems as good as or better than many of the DCPS I have visited. They have a bunch of spots still open for PS3 this year, so seems like a good bet.
