$9K for family of 4. $5.5k of that is mortgage, utilities, daycare, and afterschool. We save more than $10K/month but some of that will eventually be used for big-ticket expenses like remodeling.

Family of three, spend $8200 a month of our net (so doesn't include insurance, retirement, a few other pre-tax things). This doesn't include non-retirement savings, which varies based on what else is going on that month.

Retirement and daycare account for $5100 of that.

Family of 2, one adult and one elementary-school aged child. Spend about $8500/month, $2700 of that is mortgage. Save another $4k.

Scared to even think about it. 2 kids in college this year so that's $10,000/month for tuition. 2 houses all in probably another $10,000. And our typical Amex bill is $10,000. So $30k right there.
