Yes. Very out. Especially on fake nails.

As you describe, no. With long nails and lots of white, or on toes, yes.

I'm not going to quite THIS far with equating pale polish with old lady nails, I do think a *bit* of color is a good thing (and can be understated). Depending o your skin tone, I don't see any reason ot to wear bolder neutrals, like these (posting for color - NO idea about the quality/price of the brands!)

OPI Bubble Bath used to be gorgeous but they reformulated the color and kept the name even though it's way yellower now. So unless you have yellow undertones I'd steer clear.

These are great Essie Neutrals. I also like Essie's "High Maintenance" and "Room with a View"

I usually just get 1-2 coats of one of the above colors, depending on my mood. For my toes I do something more colorful. Bright for spring/summer, richer for autumn/winter.

I like Essie limoscene.

Some manicurists will recommend layering two different sheer colors to create the perfect shade (eg, limoscene and ballet slippers).

+ 1 this is what I do. I think a French manicure is really dated. I didn't even have one for my wedding 9 years ago because I thought it was dated then too.

+2. Dated and I think they've always been tacky. One sheer coat of white of light pink plus base and top coat is the way to go.

Which shade of pink do you recommend?

Op

OP! Just pick whichever shade of pink appeals to you! Dont be a sheep who just does whatever everyone else does. Do what makes you happy.

She asked a simple question, bitch!

you are an idiot

OP, if you're unsure, usually the person doing your nails will recommend a shade. It's so common a choice that they'll usually have a nice pale pink right at their workstation already, so you don't have to deal with picking one from the wall of polish.

My favorite is bubble bath. I get it in the gel every 2-3 weeks.
