It will be a late dinner because the wife and I are going to a spin class, so this is a bit of a quick indulgence.

This is an indulgent meal!?

Homemade soup. Question: I just finished making it. Can it sit covered on the stove for the next three hours, or should I stick it in the fridge?

Hot Dogs!!!

It is national HOT DOG DAY.

Do you work outside the home? If not, how can you do all that after work?

If she's proficient cook, it's not too hard, PP.

It takes about 15 minutes to sear fresh scallops (purchased earlier in the week).
It takes 10 minutes to boil pasta and toss w/common ingredients.
You can sautee spinach while the pasta is cooking and the scallops are searing, on two front burners you'd just switch to attending to the scallops and spinach.
She'd make the ice cream ahead of time so that's a done deal.

This is PP. Yes, I work full time... and I'm 9 months pregnant too! DH took it easy on me this year with his request... Everything has been purchased and is in the refrigerator at home. Ice cream cake was made over the weekend, so hopefully just a max of 30 minutes in the kitchen, and we can all have a fun birthday evening.

To the PP who suggested dredging the scallops in flour, I've never done that before! Does it form a nice crust or is it more of a breaded type of scallop? How do you cook them? I usually just lay mine out on a wire rack in the fridge to dry out for a few hours and sear them in butter in a hot pan, season lightly with salt and pepper after they cook.
