I've spent a lot of time (eating) in Portland, ME. I agree with the mentions of the lobster rolls at Cape Elizabeth (totally worth the drive) and spending some time at J's Oyster.

Also J's Oyster on the Portland Pier is fun in a funky, taverny, divey way. A. Bourdain went there and it's featured on his Maine episode of that show he used to do.

You can get a lobster roll at the Lobster Shack by Two lights in Cape Elizabeth and sit at the picnic tables and enjoy the view. Go to the beach at Crescent Beach in Cape Elizabeth.
