And that leaves parents free to do what they want to do - some may want to jump in the water anyway, but many of the women at my pool are like me: relieved to have some down-time to read a book or relax in the sun.
Without kids, I would never go to the pool or the beach; it's just not my thing. I'm thrilled that I don't have to suit up every evening after work just so they can cool down. I watch my kids like a hawk, but I'll keep skipping my swim suit now that I (finally) can!!

I could've written this! I've never been a pool or beach person, though we go for the kids. Once they hit the point where I was no longer needed in the water, I was thrilled to be able to just veg in the shade with a book or paper (still watching kids, but relaxing). I hate greasing up with sunscreen and wearing the suit, though I don't have any particular body issues. I'm just not a warm weather kind of person. My friends with younger kids envy me, sitting there reading!
