I wouldn't be too hard on him. Lots of people have friends who are just friends because of their life circumstances.

Some examples:

hey you're single, so am I - you're someone I can hit the bars with on weekends or do something with on Sundays when those with relationships/families are otherwise occupied.

Or - hey, our kids are in swimming together - so when they have lessons we have the same 1.5 hours of free time to go for coffee, so we do it together, etc.

I'd look at who his really close friends are, and judge from that more - who would he trust his secrets to, call in a crisis, etc. - it's likely a much smaller group, and how those people would respond in those situations might tell you something about them, and him.

Friends of a feather.....Flock together....


Anyway, I wouldn't necessarily drop a guy just because he hangs around a bunch of idiot friends. That wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker in my book.

But it could be a warning sign for me to keep my eyes open that he could have some certain shortcomings of his own that I may need to be on the look out for.

In love, it's so easy to be blinded.
So objectively, looking at who one chooses to keep company with is a good indication of what type of person one is like.

But in my opinion, it is not something that I would hold against them.

Once u have kids and family friends drift. Really ur lucky if u see the, 2x a month.

My DH had some idiotic friends but he had matured while some hadn't. They naturally drifted apart. Just bc ur friends with somebody when ur 20 doesn't mean u will be at 35.
