DC went to Field where they had a fantastic guidance counselor, making me appreciate what else they do. She read and rejected two rounds of DC's essay. The result was a far, far better essay. That was invaluable. She also had some particular feedback from Field students who had gone to some of the schools DC was interested in, that turned out to be helpful. She also advised DC on course selection for senior year at Field. There's a lot more involved than just a list of schools. The list (which DC created before even discussing it with the counselor) is the least of it.
