This is good advice. As nuts as it sounds, when I had a similar habit of gorging on treats, I would add to my grocery list a "do not buy" list. It was a good visual reminder of my goal and made it easier to say no to the inner voice convincing me that everyone deserves a little ice cream and so on. It didn't solve everything, but snacking on frozen fruit didn't pack such a huge calorie punch.
