One time, the lady could not get away, and could not get me a message -- this is before cell phones were ubiquitous. The other time, she apparently walked into a coffee shop, saw me, and walked out -- I guess she did not like what she saw.
It happens. It is not as bad as when you are getting serious with someone, and they freak out, and start standing you up. That has happened to me too.
The worst was in college...my "serious gf" attended a school about 450 miles from me. I had a long weekend, and took the bus to see her. After 16 hrs on the bus, I arrived...she knew I was coming, and found out that she was out with someone else. It was a long 16 hours back to Blacksburg.

I tried my best to hold my composure, even stayed a little bit and ordered a drink. I was so flushed I dropped my phone into the toilet...Ironically, the guy that was supposed to meet up with me last night texted me this morning saying he was sorry but he dropped his phone in the shower and his phone works now because he put it in a bag of rice overnight! I don't know if he's telling the truth, but he knew the place and the time, and he didn't show. His loss for sure. You definitely dodged a bullet.
He is full of shit!
I think online dating sites should let you post reviews under people's profiles, like Yelp or Redfin. I want to know if someone guy i'm interested in would stand up someone else!

This is the OP. I agree with you PP. I kept thinking to myself even before the non existent date occurred, why do I have to travel so far to meet him, especially because HE asked me. I won't do that again.
