Now see that's brilliant. I'm OP and not trying to start a war. I am just tired of my kids always wanting the ice cream, and I was motivated to try a healthier snack. I figured someone who has btdt would have some good ideas. Watermelon is watery kwim?

We buy those plastic shoe boxes with snap lids at the $1 store. They are great at keeping fruit fresh and salads as well. No mess either.

I have this vintage tupperware celery container and it works great for taking cut watermelon to the pool.

this is one of the funnier dcum threads of late! sorry op, i know it was a real question, but the responses are too funny! btw i transport it in gallon sized ziplocks - and leave the rind on, it is easier to eat that way (dont need forks).

I got some aluminum baking dishes from the baking section of the grocery store - the largest, deepest ones (like the size for cooking a turkey). You can get them at the dollar store, too. I just sliced the watermelon up and brought it right to the picnic in the baking dishes, and covered with foil. You can put some ice on the bottom too, though I didn't bother.

Great thread LOL and yes just make fruit kabobs, watermelon is too damn heavy. Of course always save the rind for homemade pickles, which must be organic.

This. Why do you want to take the shell to the pool? They are heavy. It is not like you are so desperate to eat them.

You can order it off Amazon Prime and it will be delivered by drone. Just make sure you specify "gift" and have it sent to the pool rather than your home address (I made that mistake once and was stuck having my original problem!)
