me too. I swear I must be a size 9. Why are there only even sizes? Size 8 is tight, size 10 falls off me.

I second Trousseau. Lingerie shopping is no longer a hassle for me.


That being said.... my pet peeve lately is all the see-through crap. I don't want to wear a sheer shirt, on top of a tank, on top of a bra, commuting in the DC summer heat! Also, it makes everything twice as expensive, having to buy a shell/cami AND the top. I just hate it, and I feel like when I'm shopping for work clothes, that's just about all I can find.

It's equally bad in plus sizes, where I live. The first available will be tight in some spots, the size up loose in the same, and the size above that falling off. When did cuts get so weird!

For bra fitting, try measuring yourself. I've found this calculator more accurate than any retail store: http://www.brasizecalculator.tk

Although Trousseau in Vienna comes close.

That's terrible! I never shop there but sometimes higher end stores are like that. I used to work at Nordstrom and my coworkers ignored anyone who wasn't well dressed or wealthy looking.


They need to get hip to Normcore. Well-dressed doesn't necessarily equal moneyed.

My vent ... I shop Athleta on line at night when I have time and then return things at the Tysons store. I could be the only customer in the place, and no one will ever come over to ask if I need help. This has happened three times. In the same mall, the employees at Lulu Lemon couldn't be nicer. I don't think those clothes fit me as well, but man I wish they'd train the folks at Athleta in customer service!

I pretty much only shop online because of issues like this. I don't really find shopping fun anymore unless it's one store and I'm not looking for anything in particular. It's particularly frustrating when you know what you want and you value your time. For shoes especially online is the way to go--you can spend way longer walking around your house in the shoe before deciding than the 15 seconds in the store.

Ordered a dress from Nordstrom online for a wedding I'm attending in two weeks. They sent the completely wrong dress in the wrong size, and now they say they don't have any of the dress I ordered. And the box is falling apart so I'll have to take it to the mall to return rather than sending it back postage free from home.

I recently went to Neiman's in Mazza Gallerie, and the sales associate took at least 40 minutes with me to find the right fit for a bra. She was really outstanding. I measured at 36B, but wound up buying 2 that are 34D. She really was patient and helpful and determined to get a correct fit. And they were only $58 each.

Go to the Soma store in Montgomery County MD - their bras are all the store brand and their measuring tape actually works. I had a better experience with being measured there than at other places.

But yes I hear you on all the problems with shopping!
