I'm going to Maine in August and was planning to eat everything but raw oysters. I heard the blueberry ice cream is amazing there.

The fish/seafood link is interesting, I didn't know about bluefish and would have assumed it was ok to eat during pregnancy.

Maine---blueberry pie! Mmmmm. I can't weigh in on your entree, but blueberry something for dessert is a must.

I'm from Maine. Ate anything I wanted thru all 3 pregnancies. You'll be fine.

This whole discussion is making me seriously crave a lobster roll. Where is that Red hook lobster truck tomorrow...

There's a new place in Dupont: Willie T's. And Luke's on F St. near Verizon Center. Both awesome.

This is OP- I can't say for sure but I do think those clam shack type places are fresh and make their stuff daily. I know they mix the lobster meat salad stuff ahead of time bc they churn out lobster rolls fast like a fast food order at the counter place, but it's very fresh

When I said premade I meant something which you find at the deli counter - coleslaw, pasta salad, etc. There are multiple listeria warnings about these types of premade salads every year and it's not worth the risk, IMO. That said, if I knew that a place had outstanding lobster rolls and made them fresh with good ingredients, hell yes, I would eat a lobster roll or two in a hot second. But no thank you to chicken salad from the deli counter or coleslaw at the salad bar.

If you sign up for the FDA food recalls you begin to see how many foods are recalled for listeria risk. At least once every couple of months, premade coleslaws and salads are included. Not worth it. Not because I'd necessarily contract listeria but I don't need the stress.
