When I head home the kids and I plot our our meals. My non-Chicago native DH is always amazed that we have to hit so many places though one year we did an Italian Beef quest for him. Now he gets it (his favorite is Al's--- I still prefer Portillo's).

Hot Doug's has the best dogs but yes, Portillo's does ship nationwide apparently. There's a new place in DC called Ivy&Coney that you might want to try. DC-3 is *okay* but buns aren't great. If you're out near Leesburg, ever, the guy who runs Windy City Red Hots kinda has it down.

Lou Malnati's is my favorite deep dish and there's a spinoff from the same family on N. State Pkwy. Edwardo's Natural is the best thin.

Aurelio's is excellent but there aren't any locations in the actual city of Chicago, just suburbs like Homewood. They do have one in Naples, FL though.

Giordano's ships deep dish. If you doing all that, don't forget Al's Italian Beef. I had it shipped one year for my husband.

Just note the shipping fee is really expensive. 2x as much as the cost of the pizza.
