Better to get things in writing now, before it comes back to haunt you in the later years. I have a connective tissue disorder that makes me dislocate my joints very easily. From first grade onward I modified certain activities to better protect my joints (basically we followed what my drs and PTs had said would hurt my joints, so no running/jumping). I modified PE well in elementary school. In middle and high school emphasis is more on team sports and passing specific skills tests, like running a mile and shooting a free throw. When I had a really bad leg injury in 10th grade and was on crutches/ in a knee immobilizer, they made me dress out for every gym class and write a ten page research paper on a specific sport every week instead of participating in class. I had a high school gym teacher (who was the head of the dept at a large FFX Cty HS), leave me on the lacrosse/field hockey field behind the football field and across the parking lot from the school when I hurt my knee and couldn't walk, despite being on the 'medical flag list', and me explaining the nature of my disorder to her. She had had a knee replacement and told me she knew what knee injuries looked like. The sad thing is I did have a 504---I typed all papers and was allowed to use a pen in math class, but bc my elementary and middle school teachers were all really great and figured out what I could/couldn't do and worked with me, we didn't have anything in place in HS.

Just curious. Why can't she participate in circle time with that diagnosis?
