I used to have my car key on the same chain as my house keys, but my car is 12 years old and the metal piece that attaches the remote key part to a chain has broken recently. They are separate only for that reason.
I always lock all my doors to my house. I don't always lock the deadbolt if I'm just going to be out for a few minutes (walking kid to school, quick run to the store up the street), but I never ever leave my house doors completely unlocked if we are out. It actually upsets me when my child opens and closes our front door (letting our cat in, going out to the box to get the mail, etc.) and forgets to relock everything. I'm a big fan of locks and it isn't like we live in a dangerous place.

Do you not use a bag? Lanyard seems unnecessary. And are you saying that you wear them to keep your child from pressing them? How would hanging them up high in the house and keeping them in your purse when you leave not solve this. Confused.

Other stuff people have dangling from key ring will weaken it too over time. Rabbit feet, mirrors, plastic pic holders, multi key rings and other nick nacks. What else is on your key ring along with your keys?

Integrated remote, they would need to rip off the car mirror and battery to use mine.

I'm a guy and I keep my car keys in one pocket, my house/office keys in a different pocket. We lock the door between garage and house when we are out. Our house alarm is also tied to the door from the garage to the house along with the exterior doors and windows.
I also separate my credit cards from my ID and my credit cards are all marked "Please ask for ID". The wallet where I keep my credit card does not have a sample of my signature. I know that is less of an impediment to using the card than it used to be (now, with the CVV, you can often still use the card), but it still helps some.

Having a lot of keys on the ring will weaken the area where you insert your key to drive your car over time.

I have my car key, my house key and the house key for where I work on the same keychain. My car key is bulky.
I have a different key chain for the 10 keys I have to other people's houses. I pet sit and have the keys of all but one client. I keep them in my glove box.

No. We share car keys but we all have our own house keys. I'm actually not sure we all carry house keys because we also have garage door openers and keypads to get in.
