SLEEP. I so miss the sleep. And shopping for clothes leisurely. And going to the movies. I wouldn't trade them but man, there are so many things I miss!!

I was a bachelor until I was 40 and became a dad when i was 41 so I miss being a bachelor/kidless for all those years. The freedom, low accountability, instead of HH on friday it's going to the playground w/ my son, and bascially no more "me" time.

Flexibility. If I was out and wanted to stay for an extra hour (or so..) I had the freedom to do so. Now, I don't get that option nor do most of the people I know. Was such fun back then...

Now that my kids are older, and I feel I'm getting my time back, I'm missing less and less. If I could say anything, it's the ability to dream beyond these four walls. I'm not much of a traveller per se, but I'd love the ability to just pick up and go to Brimfield or do that long flea market that runs south to north.

Then again, I'd probably be working full-time and not really have the time to do such things.

Boredom -- the feeling like there's nothing to fill up the day. When does that ever happen when you have kids?

Quiet. Total stillness and quiet.

Taking naps or just drifting off to sleep while you are lying in bed reading the Sunday paper.

Snacking on a little something in lieu of an actual meal.

Spontaneity.

Seeing grown up movies in movie theaters. It's been years.

Time to read. I used to stay up all night sometimes with a goid book or two.

Time to really exercise.

Spontaneous date night with husband that doesn't take two weeks and budgeting to plan.

I have no desire to be single again, but do long for the days where I could nap on a Sunday afternoon or sleep in a bit. But that's pretty much it.

As for travel, we travel with our kids. We're not climbing Mt Everest or traveling to war zones, so I figure our kids can come with us to the places we go. Kids live elsewhere in the world, too.

Lounging on the sofa watching movies all day long on a Saturday. Eating what I want to eat, when I want to eat it, even if that means running out for take out on the spur of the moment.

I miss the sleep aspect you described as well OP. Being able nap anytime on a whim was wonderful too.

I also miss being able to read a whole book in a day uninterrupted, or watch a movie on T.V. w/out someone making noise in the house.

I miss taking long hot baths on cold nights as well as having the whole house to myself to clean w/out worrying about another part of it getting messed up at the same time.

Aah....The days of the clean and organized home. When everything was shiny, in it's place and put away. When guests could show up anytime and the house always was immaculate. Ahh....

This is hilarious. My DDs friend told me "my mom has the loudest farts on the planet". This was about four years ago when she was 5 but I remember thinking, "gosh. Can your mom fart in peace!"

Going to the beach or pool or spa for the entire day!

I miss it so much I could cry.

Drinking on Fridays, spontaneity, sleeping in, and hosting parties for 20+ people. Now as my kids are in middle school, I can sort of taste those ingredients of freedom, only I am in my late 30's and it's really OK to live without all of that. I am getting over it.
